…that I’m wise! She said that there’s a difference between smarts and wisdom and that I have wisdom. She said that I carry myself well, that I’m a cool girl, that I’ve done well for myself, and that I speak motivating words. She’s a jazz singer and said that it took her a long time to realize that that’s what she wanted to do and all she wanted to do and she told me to never give up and never sell myself short.
She said that it’s good to be grateful, but that I should take credit for being where I am as well. She said “someone opened the door for you, but you had to stay on the other side.” She looked at me with her “third eye” and said that she saw something in me. She said that she knows I want to be some sort of movie star and she sees it. I can be a sultry woman or a coke head. I wouldn’t have thought that, but I’ll take it. She simply believes in me. And believes in following your bliss. And I shall.
I read in “the Artist’s Way” today that you should “just do it. If you win you win and if you lose you win.“ There’s no reason to hold back from a challenge for fear of not being perfect at it. First of all, perfectionism acts as a vice that keeps you ruminating in one place, never allowing you to move forward until you’ve “perfected” whatever it is you’re doing. Paintings are never finished, they are just stopped at a certain point. You can’t require perfection, it’s stifling. If you simply said to yourself, “If I didn’t have to be perfect at it, I’d try…” and see how many things you realize you really want to try! Don’t let perfectionism stop you!
So with that said, meeting the challenge is a win in itself. “If you lose, you win,” because you’ve grown and you’ve paved the way to meet the next challenge. Meeting challenges is contagious. Running that marathon will help you start that business or vice versa. There’s power in the committing.
